As
a native of Japan living in the U.S.A., Argentina was just too
far away to visit until October 2004 (spring time
in the Southern Hemisphere). Believe it or not, my first impression
at the airport in Buenos Aires was “what a nice air”… (Buenos
Aires means “good air” in Spanish!). I hope our listener
can feel this beautiful spring atmosphere from our music; Buenos
Aires is truly jewel box talented musicians.
I feel honored to present this album from this beautiful city.

Habiendo
nacido en Japón y residiendo actualmente
en los Estados Unidos, Argentina estaba demasiado lejos para poder
visitarla hasta Octubre del 2004 (tiempo de primavera en el Hemisferio
Sur). Crease o no, la primera impresión a mi llegada al
aeropuerto de Buenos Aires fue “que aire más agradable”… Es
mi deseo que pueda sentirse en nuestra música esta hermosa
atmósfera de primavera; Buenos Aires es verdaderamente una
caja de brillantes de músicos talentosos.
Me siento honrada de presentar este disco desde esta hermosa ciudad.

Since
2003, Tomoko and I Have been working together in the U.S.A. as
parto f bassist, John Lee’s group. Throughout
this last couple of years we also had the honor to perform together
alongside the legendary Clark Terry and tour Europe as part of
the Dizzy Gillespie Alumni All Star Big Band during the month of
November of 2004. Nevertheless most of our energy went towards
this music project of ours, which in the instance happens to include
Guillermo Delgado and Fernando Martínez, two very talented
young Argentine musicians.
On a very personal note, it’s been twenty years since I last
recorded under my name in Argentina. I can’t imagine a better
group of musicians to share this new musical adventure with.
Desde
el 2003, Tomoko y yo hemos estado trabajando juntos en los Estados
Unidos integrando
el grupo del bajista John Lee. Durante
los últimos dos años hemos tenido el honor de tocar
juntos con el legendario Clark Ferry y participar de la gira de
la Dizzy Gillespie Alumni All Star Big Band por Europa en Noviembre
del 2004. Sin embargo, hemos dedicado la mayor parte de nuestra
energía a este proyecto musical conjunto que en esta instancia
incluye a Guillermo Delgado y a Fernando Martínez, dos músicos
Argentinos jóvenes y muy talentosos. En una nota muy personal,
han pasado veinte años desde que grabé en la Argentina
bajo mi nombre. No puedo imaginar un mejor grupo de músicos
con quienes compartir esta nueva aventura musical.
